AMI Pup Rescue

AMI Pup Rescue saves homeless, neglected, abandoned, sick, injured, or abused animals from death row.  We also find homes for dogs that have to be rehomed by their owners. We understand that sometimes life circumstances brings you to a place that your fur friend might not be able to follow.  For whatever reason, these dogs find themselves in need and deserve to be saved to have a second chance at life.

All dogs in our care will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. Our partner veterinarians will give our dogs whatever medical care they need.  Our rescues have their own personalities and are sometimes emotionally scarred from abuse. We will match the needs of our rescue dogs to their foster families and adopters. We want our dogs to feel comfortable and safe in their homes. Fostering or adopting a dog saves lives. We cannot pull a dog in need unless we have a family and home to take care of them.

We run solely on donations and strictly with the help of volunteers. All donations go to the vetting and care of the dogs we pull into our rescue.  There are two ways to donate; directly through Facebook or through our website.  Thank you for your continued support! To donate, foster, adopt or volunteer, please see the links at the top of this page.

Debbie Greenspan
Founder, President
Debbie has been living on Anna Maria with her husband Gary since 2011. Originally from Long Island, New York, she has lived with dogs all her life and now has a full pack at home. Her husband Gary shares her passion for pets and supports her in every way. Debbie has been volunteering for different rescue organizations and shelters since 2016, doing everything from walking dogs and supporting fund raising efforts to vetting adopters to finding the perfect home for a rescue’s available dog. At one of these organizations, she fell for two beautiful pitbulls that needed a home. She adopted them both, and with love, patience, and training, showed them a much better life. Watching the transition from shelter dog to beloved pet has inspired her to continue her efforts to improve the lives of these often misunderstood animals.

Vice President
Heathers love of dogs started as a child with beloved family Shelties and then KC a Golden Retriever that had a special bond with her. These experiences have confirmed to her that dogs truly are “man and woman’s best friend “. Her first foster started at the Humane Society with Toby AKA Lil T a severely neglected and malnourished Yorkie which turned out to be her first foster fail. 9 years later and Toby is still by her side. This passion led her to AMI Pup Rescue where she is actively involved in the day to day operations and rescues. Today, she has fostered, healed and potty trained dozens of fosters for their furever homes.
